Services Offered to the Public

Sullivan County EMS serves as the soul provider of emergency medical services to the citizens and visitors of our county. Our agency has been designated by the county government as being the only agency allowed to respond to 911 calls within the majority of Sullivan County. The only exception to this is the City of Bristol, where the Bristol Fire Department operates emergency ambulances with Sullivan County EMS as a backup.

In addition to being the 911 provider for Sullivan County, our agency also maintains a convalescent transport division. This service is set aside to transport patients to scheduled appointments such as doctor's visits, hospital outpatient services and so forth. While some other agencies are allowed to offer these services, the need is so great in this area that we feel that there is an obligation to provide the service as well. Our agency is known for being a training ground for upcoming and talented people who want to be part of the EMS community. Over the years many hundreds of students have come here to learn more about their craft and be watched closely by our veteran medical professionals. Sullivan County is blessed to have many local, non-profit and volunteer fire departments within our region. Part of our ongoing commitment to the citizens is to provide free training to these groups. Since we have staff members with so many credentials in many areas, we can provide help and instruction in almost anything from swift water rescue to cave diving recovery. In addition, some of our staff members are actually paramedic and EMT instructors at area colleges.
